Memory Care in Lancaster
Several households at the Mennonite Home campus offer a stimulating and safe environment for a person with Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or other related cognitive or functional impairments. These households are locked and secure so that residents can only leave the household when signed out by a loved one or staff member. This gives peace of mind to family members who can rest easier. Other features include:
- Socialization and companionship
- Structured programming

- Medical doctors routinely visit residents to monitor care
- Our Medical Director is a practicing geriatrician
Personal Care
- Beginning to advanced signs of the dementia process are evident
- Staff provides assistance with reminders about activities, meal times and personal hygiene needs
- An outdoor courtyard provides fresh air and walking space for spring, summer and fall

Skilled Nursing
- A person with moderate and severe signs of dementia can be cared for in one of our secure environment households
- Greater levels of assistance with daily activities is provided
- Shadow boxes for folks to display pictures of memorabilia and a country kitchen to smell fresh baked cookies, give this area a home-like feel.
In these special care households, folks with the dementia diagnosis are encouraged to thrive and be who they are as their own memories start to dim. Our caring staff attempts to provide the light of reminiscing and dignity during the shadowing days.
